Pohutakawa

Pohutukawa Tree

Gnarled boughs & roots carry ancient knowing, strengthening the journey of empowerment. The expansive branches offer a safe place of shelter while strong roots nuture and support. Magnificent red blooms boldly reveal their splendour during the season of abundant growth. The ancestors of the Pohutukawa tree are among Aotearoa-New Zealand's earliest flowering plants, their seeds then carried on the wind to the shores of other islands. Pohutukawa is said to represent the circle of life, connecting earthly and spiritual realms. It offers a grounded, resilient sense of place and belonging from where healing and reclaiming can emerge.
